Tessa Mackenzie Clock Collection
The Tessa Mackenzie Clock Collection is a collaboration between Paulin and glazier and illustrator, Tessa Mackenzie. The dials were screen printed in Tessa's studio in the East End of Glasgow. Tessa’s collection explores the process of designing for material. The work builds on an ongoing project; originally translating observational drawings into tapestry patterns, then to glass, and then Dibond. This playful process – a kind of visual game of telephone – aims to articulate the relationship between pattern and material. Each of the five dial designs is an edition of two and has been signed by the artist. The clock is made from cork and aluminium with a sweeping second hand. Jim Ramsay Clock Collection
The Jim Ramsay Clock Collection is a collaboration between Paulin and the artist, Jim Ramsay. Each dial has been individually designed and screen-printed in Jim's studio in the East End of Glasgow. For this series of clock dials, Jim embraced the unpredictable nature of the screen printing process, improvising their layout and allowing glitches and overlaps to inform the outcome. His compositions are familiar but uncanny, drawing from his practice, where landscapes and urban scenes are abstracted into dreamscapes.
